God’s Wonderful Leading
I would like to share with you how God prepared a chapter in my life just perfectly. As an international church we sometimes gather in fairly big groups coming from different countries. We always communicate in English, but I couldn’t have a proper conversation as my English from school was sadly too poor. So I decided to take evening classes in English. I studied a lot but in the end it was still not good enough for having a fluent chat. I started to think about going to an English-speaking country in order to learn the language properly, but I didn’t know how to go about it. At that point God took over and prepared everything for me.
I was wondering where I could go and dreamed a bit about Australia, but that was slightly too expensive. After a few talks with the leader of our house group, the idea of going to Scotland started taking shape. Well, I decided to get some information first. As we’re also based in Scotland, I simply sent an email to the local pastor, who replied quite fast with an astounding answer. He wrote that this wouldn’t be a problem as they had a spare room in someone’s house and also lots of work to do too. He asked if I could come the next day! But there were still a few things I had to clarify and organise. My employer didn’t have a problem at all with the prospect of me being away for 6 months, and when I returned I could continue working immediately.
A solution was also found for my flat. After a few weeks I found a sub-tenant who covered the rent during my leave. Also, I had nearly forgotten about an old building loan contract, which I terminated, and which gave me a nice financial cushion for my time in Scotland. The MOT for my car ran out just before my departure, and I still had enough money to get it fixed and pass the test during my absence.
The trip to Scotland was perfectly led by The Lord, and those 6 months helped me a lot to improve my English so that I can fluently converse now.
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” (PSALM 37:4-5)
