Womanhood - The Blessing and The Curse

Throughout the ages woman has had the potential to be a great blessing for man.

"A capable, intelligent and virtuous woman, who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels, her value is far above rubies or pearls" (PROVERBS 31:10 AMP).

And woman has also proven to have great potential to be a curse.

"It is better to live in the corner of an attic than with a crabby woman in a lovely home" (PROVERBS 21:9 LB).

History has shown woman to be a key in the direction of mankind to operate in either a cycle of giving and blessings or using man and being a curse.

God created woman to a helpmate to man.

"And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (GENESIS 2:18 KJV).

God never intended for woman to be in control of man. In Genesis, God spoke:

"Yet your desire and craving shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you" (GENESIS 3:16 AMP).

And in the New Testament the Apostle Paul stated God's line of authority in His Kingdom:

"But I want you to know and realise that Christ is the head of every man, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God" (1 CORINTHIANS 11:3 AMP).

Satan has continually sought to undermine God's authority and the order of His Kingdom expressed on earth. Since the beginning of creation, woman has been easily deceived by Satan through her feminine emotions and thereby used to seduce man away from the will of God.

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat" (GENESIS 3:1-6 KJV).

The emotions of a woman when submitted to the Holy Spirit are a beautiful gift from God. But unsubmitted feminine emotions are a dangerous thing in the life of a woman, and a constant place for Satan to exercise his wiles and tricks to deceive her, to lead her into error and to attack man.

"And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and deluded and fell into transgression" (1 TIMOTHY 2:14 AMP).

A man of God (true believer in Jesus Christ) is to cover the emotions of a woman; a husband is to cover his wife.

"For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is head of the church, himself the saviour of his body" (EPHESIANS 5:23 AMP).

The purpose of the "spirit of motherhood" is to undermine and destroy the authority of man. If a man does not stand in the authority of God in his home ("wear the pants"), he is dominated and controlled, and God's authority is nullified. The Body of Christ is weakened and satan is able to influence and control man's direction through woman.

It is said that behind every successful man there is a woman. The big question is, what kind of woman is behind the man? A loving, Godly woman brings blessings to man, and an unsubmissive, manipulating woman brings a curse. It is vital to recognise the woman behind the man - is she true or false?

True Womanhood: A Blessing

"Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain (because it is not lasting), but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised!" (PROVERBS 31:30 AMP).

The key for true womanhood is to be a woman who follows and reverently fears God.

Man's nature is to value and judge externally (by outward appearance and beauty). This draws man into the cycle of conditional love and to primarily look on the outward adorning and beauty of woman. However, true beauty in a woman is not only external adorning, but rather it is that inner beauty that radiates from trusting in God and His Perfect Love.

"Let not yours be the (merely) external adorning with (elaborate) interweaving and knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewellery, or changes of clothes: but let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of gentle and peaceful spirit, which (is not anxious or wrought up), but is very precious in the sight of God" (1 PETER 3:3-4 AMP).

The truly Godly woman believes in and receives the Love of God to fully satisfy her. She has a radiant spirit of complete trust in Almighty God, and her delight is to do His will. Her life is one of spiritual and practical devotion to God, and is in complete submission to Him. She expresses the love of God to others by giving to meet their needs, and takes no concern for herself, for she knows that in giving she will receive from God.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (LUKE 6:38 NIV).

True beauty in a woman is expressed through a warmth of sincere comfort and flow of inner radiance of joyful giving.

"Let each one (give) as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (that is, he takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or do without) a cheerful (joyous, prompt-to-do-it) giver - whose heart is in his giving. And God is able to make all grace... (every favour and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance..." (2 CORINTHIANS 9:7-8 AMP).

Satan attempts to seduce, deceive and control woman through her lower nature, the weakness of her emotions and her carnal desire for the pleasures and security of the world (her image of fulfilment).

A true woman of God must be influenced, led and controlled by the Holy Spirit of God.

"But I say, walk and live habitually in the (Holy) Spirit - responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the (Holy) Spirit, and the (desires of the) Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature)..." (GALATIANS 5:16-17 AMP).

It is a deception and a lie that true womanhood can be attained apart from God. Only God knows and can cleanse and change the heart of an individual.

"The heart is the most deceitful thing there is, and desperately wicked. No one can really know how bad it is!" Only the Lord knows! (JEREMIAH 17:9 LB)

The fruits of the Spirit can only flow forth from a life filled with God's Holy Spirit.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control..." (GALATIANS 5:22 NIV)

A woman must trust God to meet her needs. When she trusts God to meet her needs, she will not manipulate man to meet them. Trust and reverential fear of God must be the foundation for a truly Godly woman.

What a precious gift to a groom is a bride who has been raised in God's ways as a true woman.

The Godly Wife

"Wives, be subject - be submissive and adapt yourselves - to your own husbands as (a service) to the Lord" (EPHESIANS 5:22 AMP).

God has a perfect order through which His power and blessings are released in a family. The key to the Kingdom of God being established in the home is for a man to walk in reverence and obedience to God. As a woman submits in obedience to her husband, she comes under the covering (protection) and authority of God. The unmarried woman comes under the authority of God-ordained men in the Body of Christ.

"Now I want you to realise that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God" (1 CORINTHIANS 11:3 NIV).

By living in this order of the Kingdom of God, both man and woman obtain blessings which bring welfare and happiness and protection. Because a woman is easily deceived by her emotions, she needs to be covered by a God-fearing man to protect her. In the Scriptures, Abraham's wife Sarah is given as an example of a Godly wife.

"In like manner, you married women, be submissive to your own husbands (subordinate yourselves as being secondary to and dependent on them, and adapt yourselves to them) so that even if any do not obey the Word (of God), they may be won over not by discussion but by the (Godly) lives of their wives, when they observe the pure and modest way in which you conduct yourselves, together with your reverence (for your husband. That is, you are to feel for him all that reverence includes: to respect, defer to, revere him - to honour, esteem, appreciate, prize, and, in the human sense, adore him; that is to admire, praise, be devoted to, deeply love and enjoy your husband). For it was thus that the pious women of old who hoped in God were (accustomed) to beautify themselves, and were submissive to their husbands (adapting themselves to them as themselves secondary and dependent upon them.) It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham (following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by) calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrify you (not giving way to hysterical fears or letting anxieties unnerve you.) In the same way you married men should live considerately with (your wives), with an intelligent recognition (of the marriage relation), honouring the woman as (physically) the weaker, but (realising that you) are joint heirs of the grace (God's unmerited favour) of life..." (1 PETER 3:1-2,5-7 AMP).

Also in the Bible as an example for women, the book of Esther clearly illustrates both the blessing and the curse of womanhood. Queen Vashti is the example of a woman who does not walk in submission and obedience. In rebellion to the king's command (witchcraft), she manipulates and exalts herself over his authority and sovereignty.

"For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, making their husbands contemptible in their eyes. Since they will say, King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, and she did not come" (ESTHER 1:17 AMP).

In the same book, Queen Esther is the example of a truly Godly woman. Above all, she had the reverential fear of God in her heart and walked in submission, obedience and self-denying love.

"Now Esther had not yet revealed her nationality or her people: for she obeyed Mordecai's command to her to fear God and execute his commands..." (ESTHER 2:20 AMP).

Queen Esther was able to accomplish God's purpose, not through manipulation and control over the king, but rather by trusting in God and in His power and goodness. She was unselfish and completely willing to sacrifice her own life to save her people (the Jews). As she prepared to go in to the king, it was this inward beauty of submission and trust in God that far outshone her outward beauty.

"Queen Esther said, go gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink for 3 days, night or day. I also and my maids will fast as you do. Then I will go to the King, though it is against the law: and if I perish, I perish" (ESTHER 4:16 AMP).

"Then Queen Esther said, if I have found favour in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition and my people at my request" (ESTHER 7:3 AMP).

The woman of God is like a luscious tree planted and rooted deep in the love of God. As she submits to and allows the Holy Spirit to flow through her as the nourishing and life-giving sap, she yields fruit.

"But the fruit of the (Holy) Spirit (the work which His presence within accomplishes), is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness (meekness, humility), gentleness, self-control..." (self-restraint, continence), (GALATIANS 5:22-23 AMP).

The truly Godly woman is a reflection to the world of the true love of God.

"Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him" (1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7 LB).

False Womanhood

The woman who does not trust in and submit to God in obedience, and who is always selfishly looking out for her own interests will have the nature and spirit of satan operating through her rebellion and self-exaltation. There is no reverential fear of God in her heart.

"Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives (who clung to their foreign gods). Your own wickedness and the wickedness of your wives (who imitated their queens)... They are not humbled (contrite, penitent and bruised for their guilt and iniquities) even to this day, neither have they feared and revered me, nor walked in my law or my statutes, which I set before you and before your fathers" (JEREMIAH 44:9-10 AMP).

There are only two choices for a woman - trust God or trust self!

When a woman does not rely on and trust God to fulfil her (thereby becoming a channel of blessing), she becomes a vessel of ungodliness and selfishness. In order to get her needs met, she will begin subtle manipulation and control using her beauty, talents and abilities to get her way. This is a dangerous counterfeit to true womanhood, because it appears that she is offering her skills and services such as cooking, nurturing, teaching, sex and so forth for the benefit of others. But in reality, they are used to fulfil her own needs. One of the greatest needs in a woman is to feel secure. When a woman does not feel secure in the love of God, she will seek to create her own security by contriving and manipulating circumstances and people to fulfil that image of security. Her entire life becomes self-directed and self-controlled. This is a cycle of giving to get! The deception is that she and others believe that she is loving and giving, however it is all based upon meeting the conditions of her image of security, and is therefore conditional. This pattern is the ideal set up for the working of Satan.

Satan seeks to undermine the true authority and order of God and to rob mankind of the blessings that flow from that order. He sets up a system of false authority by creating the deception that true love, nurture, protection and fulfilment can come from a woman. Since man must go to a woman to get his basic needs and appetites for food and sex met, he is a victim of this deception. Satan directs man away from true fulfilment in God by seducing him with the spirit of "I am fulfilment."

Spirit of I AM

God Almighty is love. He is unconditional love, and He alone can completely fulfil the need in each one of us for love and acceptance. He is the Great I AM, the Creator and Fulfiller of all the universe through His Son Jesus Christ.

"And God said to Moses, I am who I am and what I am..." (EXODUS 3:14 AMP).

Satan has unleashed an anti-Christ counterfeit spirit named "I am fulfilment" which manifests itself through the "Queen of Heaven" and spirit of motherhood, setting itself up to be the one who fulfils and protects and satisfies. This is especially used by mothers on their children and creates idolatry for the mother by the children. This gives her tremendous control over their lives. But this is all based on conditional love, and it is meant to make a mockery of God and His unconditional love. Satan uses the nature to rule in women to cause them to exalt themselves above God. This leads to unsubmissiveness and rebellion toward God.

"For you (Babylon = Queen of Heaven, spirit of motherhood) have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, no one sees me. Your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart and mind, I am, and there is no one besides me" (ISAIAH 47:10 AMP).

This false authority is used to keep people in emotional and spiritual bondage. It has been used not only with mother against children, but with wife against husband, sister against sister and numerous other combinations. Through the "spirit of motherhood" and "Queen of Heaven", Satan has set up this strategy of false authority with the primary purpose of seducing and directing men of God away from doing the will of God. The ungodly woman has been the main instrument in this strategy throughout Biblical history. The following are just a few examples.

Eve talked Adam into disobeying God in the Garden of Eden (GENESIS 3:1-13):

"...Have you eaten of the tree of which I (God) commanded you that you should not eat? And the man (Adam) said, The woman (Eve) whom You gave to be with me, she gave me (fruit) of the tree, and I ate. And the Lord God said to the woman (Eve), what is this you have done? And the woman (Eve) said, the serpent (satan) beguiled (cheated, outwitted and deceived) me, and I ate" (GENESIS 3:11-13 AMP).

Satan used the wife of Moses to get him to disobey God. Zipporah's opposition to the command of God to circumcise their son (because she wanted to protect him from being hurt) almost cost Moses his life (EXODUS 4:24-26):

"Along the way at a (resting) place, the Lord met Moses and sought to kill him (made him acutely and almost fatally ill). Now apparently he had failed to circumcise one of his sons, his wife being opposed to it..." (EXODUS 4:24-25 AMP).

Later on in history Satan used Delilah to destroy one of the strongest men in history. Samson forfeited his strength to do the will of God and ultimately lost his life through the seduction of Delilah (JUDE 16:4-31):

"And she (Delilah) made Samson sleep upon her knees; and she called a man, and caused him to shave off the seven braids of his head. Then she began to torment (Samson), and his strength went from him. She said, the Philistines are upon you, Samson! And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as I have time after time, and shake myself free. For Samson did not know that the Lord had departed from him" (JUDE 16:19-20 AMP).

One of God's chosen men, who was a man after His own heart, fell prey to satan's snare through the lovely Bathsheba. King David became an adulterer and a murderer because of his lust for Bathsheba (2 SAMUEL 11:1-27). Instead of David going forth into battle with the rest of the kings, he remained behind and fell into temptation by the beauty of another man's wife. His desire for Bathsheba led him to have her husband Uriah killed in battle.

"When Uriah's wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for Uriah. And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the Lord" (2 SAMUEL 11:26-27 AMP).

King David's son was King Solomon. King Solomon was a man greatly blessed by God. He had everything - power, riches, fame, wisdom, and women. God tried to protect Solomon from destruction by the evil spirits of idolatry in the pagan nations surrounding him by commanding him not to marry or mix with them. These nations were filled with Baal worship and the "Queen of Heaven".

"But King Solomon (defiantly) loved many foreign women; the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; of the very nations of whom the Lord said to the Israelites, you shall not mingle with them, neither shall they mingle with you; for surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods. Yet Solomon clung to these in love. He had 700 wives, Princesses, and 300 concubines; and his wives turned away his heart from God. For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not perfect (complete and whole) with the Lord his God..." (1 KINGS 11:1-4 AMP).

Satan worked through these and many other women throughout the history of mankind to not only divert men from doing the will of God, but to actually destroy the men and prophets of God. He was constantly trying to darken man to the true knowledge of God and God's precious master plan of salvation for the human race. The woman Jezebel was greatly used by satan to destroy the true prophets of God. She was an idolatress and Baal worshipper, influenced and controlled by the satanic Queen of Heaven, and used witchcraft and control to pursue God's prophets.

"...How can peace exist, as long as the fornication's of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and of all the servants of the Lord (who have died) at the hand of Jezebel" (2 KINGS 9:22,7 AMP).

Even during the time that Jesus Christ was on the earth working out God's master plan, satan opposed and destroyed the prophet of God - John the Baptist - through the woman Herodias. Herodias used her daughter to dance before and seduce King Herod into beheading John the Baptist (MATTHEW 14:3-11).

"And she, being put forward and prompted by her mother, said, give me the head of John the Baptist right here on a platter" (MATTHEW 14:8 AMP).

Even Mary, the woman God used to give birth to His Son Jesus Christ, was not exempt from the influence of the spirit of motherhood. Satan sought to use her position as Jesus' mother to nullify the power and authority of the Son of the Almighty God. Jesus as a boy of 12-years-old stood in obedience to the true authority of God His Father and against the satanic, false authority of the motherhood spirit. Jesus (without the knowledge of His earthly parents) had stayed behind in Jerusalem to talk with the teachers in the temple (LUKE 2:40-52).

"And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" (LUKE 2:46-49; LB)

At the wedding in Cana of Galilee when Jesus was a man beginning His earthly ministry, the spirit of motherhood again was manifested (JOHN 2:1-5).

"And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him ‘They have no wine.' Jesus saith unto her, ‘Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come'" (JOHN 2:3-4 MOD).

Later on in Jesus' earthly ministry He was once again confronted with the demand of Mary, His earthly mother.

"While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, ‘Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?' And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, ‘Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother'" (MATTHEW 12:46-50 KJV).

Woman has remained a mystery to many down through the centuries. Blessing or curse - which is it? From the wisdom given to King Solomon, the mystery unfolds:

"He who finds a true wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the Lord" (PROVERBS 18:22 AMP).

- or -

"And I found that (of all sinful follies none has been so ruinous in seducing one away from God as idolatrous women) more bitter than death is the woman whose heart is snares and nets and whose hands are bands. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be taken by her" (ECCLESIASTES 7:26 AMP).

The spirit of the "Queen of Heaven" which came through these idolatrous women was the deadliest thing that King Solomon had ever come up against. And today, in the 20th century, the spirit of motherhood (Queen of Heaven) is still the deadliest spirit to influence mankind.
