Dear Ones in Christ:
When God's prophet Nathan confronted David for his sins and exposed them to the world, he made this statement:
"Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme..."
How many thousands throughout the world have had their faith shattered by scandal in the church? When men rise to positions of prominence and are giving forth the Word of God, they better watch every action and every single word they say. They are being watched like hawks, not only by the new converts, but by reporters, by angels and demonic forces.
The Lord, also, is keeping the record on the thoughts and intents of the heart. Charles G. Finney wrote: "Every Christian makes an impression by his conduct, and witnesses either for one side or the other. He can't help testifying for or against religion. He is either gathering with Christ, or scattering abroad. At every step you tread on chords that will vibrate to all eternity. Every time you move, you touch keys whose sound will re-echo all over the hills and dales of heaven and through all the dark caverns and vaults of hell. Every movement of your lives, you are exerting a tremendous influence that will tell on the immortal interests of souls all around you."
God help us to remember this. Our major concern must be how we stack up before the Lord.
Your brother in Christ,
