Lifting the Fog - God Draws Me to Full Salvation

Hi, I would like to share with you how the Lord worked in my life and led me unto salvation. At the time when this happened I lived in Germany.

A friend of mine invited me to their church meetings a few times but I refused as I wasn’t really interested. One day I decided to come along  to check it out. The meeting was quite lively even though it was a small group. What really stirred me up was the scripture which was read out before bread and cup.

1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-31 "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

"Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged."

I had heard the first part in the Protestant church services all the time but I had never heard the warning from the Lord that you could put damnation onto yourself if you don’t take it with the right attitude. Suspicious as I was I checked in my own bible at home but sure enough it was there word for word.

I think deep down I knew already that there was more to it but I didn’t want to change my life at this point in time.

The invitations continued but it took another few weeks for me to come along again. That weekend they had a song item practise which they wanted to perform at their AGM in Cornwall, England. It was an arrangement with four different voices and as they didn’t have the equipment to record different tracks I offered to organise this for their next practice - I played in a blues band and had some audio recording gear.

A few weeks later on a Saturday morning I found myself driving 200km to their meeting. I had a contact number which I had to call to make the final arrangements. I stopped at a service station to get in touch (mobile phones didn’t exist yet) and got told to please be at the main train station by 10am for someone called Klaus to pick me up. I continued my trip on the “Autobahn”, but suddenly there was thick fog and I had to slow down more and more. I realised that I was not going to be on time travelling at such low speed and feared that my whole trip was in vain. Additionally I was thinking that I should actually be sitting at home preparing for my repeat exam which I had to pass to be allowed to continue my Mechanical Engineering studies.

So I started to pray to the Lord. “Well, I don’t know if you exist Lord (didn’t really believe yet), but if you exist and you want me to meet these people and find out more about you, then please take this fog away and get me to the main train station at 10am. Amen!” The moment I said “Amen” the fog was gone! It was not only gone in front of me but also behind me! I had shivers running down my spine as I realised that God was real as He had answered my prayer. I continued driving towards the centre of the town and then followed the signage to the main train station. As I parked the car I looked up to the big clock at the train station and it was exactly 10am. Again I knew this was no coincidence but the Lord answering my prayer.

That Saturday I committed myself to come along to the AGM in England to find out more about God. In a way needless to say, the Lord took care of my exam and even though I sat there having no clue how to answer the questions, He answered my prayer of getting me through the exam.

Once I was at the AGM in Cornwall it only took a few days to get saved. The Lord answered all my questions and doubts through a guy (Jack) giving the scriptures at a prayer meeting. Even though I didn’t know Jack at all at that time it was like he knew exactly what questions / doubts I had as those 4 scriptures fitted perfectly.

MATTHEW 7:7-8 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Praise the Lord, God answers prayer! There have been many more occasions since then where the Lord answered prayers, blessed and protected me.

Start praying today and the Lord will answer.

Gratefully,

Markus
