Jesus Christ "My ONLY SAVIOUR - not Mary or Saints"

Hi,

I would like to share with you a testimony about how I came to know the true God and how I turned from religious dogmas to the living God. I have always believed that God exists. I was born in a Catholic family, and until the age of 23 I attended mass in the Roman Catholic Church. In my opinion I was a good Christian; I tried to go to church every Sunday, to pray, and to follow the rules that I was taught.

I got more and more involved with ‘Mary worship

When I was 23 years old I felt a great emptiness and desire to get closer to God. So I started to go to church twice a week, I took communion every time, and I went to confession every week. At that time, I got more and more involved with ‘Mary worship’ and I prayed the Rosary every day. However, none of these things were able to satisfy my hunger for God. Only when I started reading the New Testament did God totally open my eyes and completely convinced me that I was a sinner who deserved to be condemned. I never doubted that the Bible is true and everything that is written in it comes from God himself.

I was very influenced by Marian Apparitions and I believed everything until I watched a video on the Internet discussing Marian Apparitions in the light of the Bible.  In particular one scripture struck me a lot. It says:

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus", 1 TIMOTHY 2:5

My eyes were opened and I was completely sure that the only advocate was Jesus Christ and that the worship of Mary and statues of saints in the light of the Bible did not make any sense. After my eyes had been opened, I could no longer belong to the Catholic Church.

God opened my eyes blinded by religion, and led me to Christ, the Word

Soon after, I came across a website of a Pentecostal Church by chance. I was intrigued by an excerpt on this page about the gift of speaking in tongues as a sign of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. I became interested, because I assumed that these gifts had long since become extinct despite the fact that I knew the story of the Apostles, who received the gift of speaking in tongues. "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."  ACTS 2:4

I felt a mighty Divine presence that filled the room

So, I decided to get in touch with these people to see for myself whether or not this was true. I also learned that baptism is something completely different to christening or sprinkling with water, and that in the early Christian centuries there was no infant baptism, and baptism was by full immersion.
A few weeks later I visited these Christians who claimed to be able to pray in other tongues. On Sunday, before the meeting, one of them suggested we should to pray. After praying for about half an hour I heard them speak in these beautiful melodic tongues for the first time. This, however, wasn't the biggest surprise for me. During the prayer, I felt a mighty Divine presence that filled the room and I received a powerful conviction of sin. I didn't even realize that I was weeping. It was a powerful and amazing feeling and I knew it was God. Later on, more people came to the meeting and they also prayed in other tongues.

I didn't know exactly what to do, but I knew I needed salvation. So I asked: "God, if it is true what these people are telling me and that the sign of receiving the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues, please let me receive the Holy Spirit and let me speak in new tongues as they do."

I went back after a few days. The first thing I did was to get baptized by full immersion. Jesus said,  "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (JOHN 3:3) and, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (JOHN 3:5). With the baptism under water, I became a new creature. I felt pure, without any sin, and I could feel God's love and presence.

A few hours after the baptism, we drove to the house of one of the brethren, and we prayed for the Holy Spirit. Again, I felt the powerful presence of God and shortly after, I started to speak in new tongues as the scripture says:

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."  ACTS 2:4
Now, I am a new creature in Jesus Christ and I thank God for saving me from eternal damnation.

Praise the Lord!!!
