Heaven Can Wait?
Hello to all of you!
My name is Anh Dao and I would love to share how I found the Truth...
When I was a little child, I was always thinking, “Why do people exist, anyway?” As much I puzzled over it, I never came to a satisfying conclusion.
Years later, when I was 13, my mother and I became acquainted with an American who told us with full conviction that there is a God and that there is indeed a spiritual world. At that time he was part of this Pentecostal church. So, that is how, one day, we visited these "foreign meetings"; simply out of curiosity.
To my surprise these people were quite "normal", and they were very candid and observant. Although I did not specifically search after God, my mum and I were more frequently attending these church services. Shortly after the first encounters, I felt that these people were not wrong (not hypocritical) but trustworthy. These people were simply different from those in my everyday surroundings. We became good friends and I really liked them. As a matter of fact, I still do.
Only a little later I heard about the necessity of receiving the Holy Ghost and being baptized for the cleansing of our sins. At first, I was not at all aware of this necessity, but gradually I understood that I would lose nothing at all and yet could win everything if I would turn to God. However, I thought that I could push this subject and rather be occupied with my teenage life instead. WHAT A FALLACY!
I literally 'woke up'.
In summer the summer of 2006, on a journey to the US, I read a sheet called "Heaven Can Wait" (http://www.cai.org/bible-studies/heaven-can-wait). To the point of reading the title, I felt my previous notions were confirmed by the sheet. But then I read the sheet carefully, I literally “woke up”. You NEVER know, when your last day is. IN FACT, God is going to judge your life.
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”.
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”.
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall BE DAMMED”.
It became clear to me that it is not enough to just believe that there is a God, but rather to love and serve the only God with all your heart and with your entire soul.
Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Do you think liars and thieves will enter heaven? Although these sins appear quite small, they are sins and they keep you away from God and from eternity in heaven. The only way to be cleansed from these sins is through baptism and to receive the Holy Ghost with the proof of speaking in other tongues:
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost”.
I am overjoyed that I made this step in FAITH.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.
These last words were spoken of Jesus personally:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues”.
On the 7th of January, 2007, I was baptized and received the Holy Ghost. I am overjoyed that I made this step in FAITH. Although it had a cost: overcoming at the beginning to believe in that which you cannot see; that is not an EXCUSE when we stand before God and have to give account of how we have lived our life.
God is a living God. Faith is something which exceeds our mind, something that you cannot explain. You have to break through a sort of "wall" to understand what it means to believe in God. There is much more behind that wall than one could ever expect. You might say a lot, but in the end our actions demonstrate what we really want and seek.
Thanks a lot for making the effort to read my testimony and I hope that it helps you regarding your faith in the one and only God. I would be very delighted to hear from you, if you want to write!
With much love in Christ,
