Dangers of Rock Music Uncovered
Hi, I would like to share a few things I experienced with rock-music. These things go back a fair while before I became a Christian. At the time some events didn’t really make sense but as I learned more about the spiritual world all became clear.
Before I became a Christian at the age of 27, I was really into music: I played in a blues-rock band, listened to music day in and out (I had over 1000 CDs, over 300 LPs and hundreds of tapes) and went to rock concerts (saw most of the big ones).
One day I borrowed a LP from a friend with some hard rock music which I normally didn’t really like but just was curious. When I played the music something really strange happened after a minute or so. Suddenly I had this strange pressure on my chest like someone had put a steel band around my chest and slowly tighten it more and more. I checked the settings on my stereo but all was normal. I stopped the music and to my great relief the pressure disappeared. So I tried it again. I started the music and the pressure came back. I stopped it and it was gone.
Only years later I learned that some musicians “sold their soul” to have success and some even have “spiritual sessions” over their music.
When a friend of mine started to preach to me about God and the Bible we also talked about music and the influence music can have on your life. We watched the “Hells Bells”-video. The presenter Eric was showing connections of musicians to Satan and also talked about “Back-masking”, where messages are on songs backwards, i.e., you can’t hear them when listening to the music normally but your brain can still decode the messages in your sub-conscience.
I didn’t believe in God at the time and even less in the devil. But funny enough in the 2 weeks after watching the video I found proof wherever I turned: the radio, the TV, the newspaper & magazines. I had never heard anything like this before and then suddenly it was everywhere.
I think it was about a month or two later when I went to concert of a regional rock band. The music was quite alright and I enjoyed it very much. About two thirds into the concert the band was playing a piece with an extended guitar solo. Suddenly I realised how everything was so strangely synchronised but it was more than that. The audience was controlled by the solo of the guitar-player in a very powerful way.
It reminded me of parts of the “Hells Bells” video when even the musicians admit that “something” takes over when they are on stage and lead them in their playing.
The last incident I would like to share happened about a month before I got saved. I was driving on the “Autobahn” on my way to meet up with “those Christians”. I was listening to one of my mix tapes and the Rolling Stones tune “Sympathy for the devil” started playing. I felt a bit of discomfort and actually had to turn the music down till this song was over.
Obviously the Lord had already started to work and protect me against evil influences. I often sat in the car and wondered why I was going to these Christian meetings but it was the Lord pulling me close to Him.
"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."
Praise the Lord for my salvation. Actually to sum it all up: After I got saved I borrowed the 4 track recording from a friend and checked my recording of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to heaven” and I found the backmasking message on there. Not as clearly as on the “Hells Bells” documentary but you definitely understandable.
I recommend to find out about the true background of rock music and get hold of the “Hells Bells” DVD.
