Born Again!

Ever since I was about 12, I always thought that the Bible was on the right track. I always used to kind of believe in God, but I never really did anything about it. Then in 2000, I was at University and I realised that if the Bible really is the Word of God, that I had better do something about it. So I spoke a lot to some Christians whom I knew, asking them questions about the Bible, about how it could be true, about whether or not it made sense and so on, but they couldn't answer all my questions. In the end I looked into the Bible myself and decided from reading about Jesus that He was not just a man, but is the Son of God.

So I 'gave my heart to Jesus' as the Christian guys told me to do. I knew that I had to take this seriously, and I started to change my life a bit. I also tried to read the Bible and to pray sometimes. But always inside me I knew there was a contradiction between me thinking I was a Christian, although being too scared to admit it to my friends, and generally caring too little about God.

In December 2000 (about 4 months after I had decided to be a Christian) I met another Christian from a non-denominational but simply Bible-based church, and I went along to a meeting. The meeting was unlike any church meeting I had been to before. There was singing and so on, but people also gave testimonies of miracles including amazing healings, such as quitting smoking "cold turkey" with no problems. I had never heard of miracles like this before, but after the meeting some guys talked to me and showed me how it was all in the Bible. I asked them a lot of questions and they could answer every question from the Bible. I was amazed because I could see that these guys believed every word of the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, and they had a great knowledge of it. One thing I always wondered about so-called Christians is that they claimed to believe that the Bible is the Word of God, but they didn't seem to totally live by it. However, I could see these people were really living as Christians, according to the Bible. was very clear and I couldn't understand how I had never seen it in the Bible before.

They told me that if I really wanted to be a Christian then I had to repent, be baptised, and receive the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking in tongues. They showed me this in the Bible; it was very clear and I couldn't understand how I had never seen it in the Bible before. I was prepared to do whatever it would take to get me into heaven. If this was the truth then I wanted to do it. I was really convinced by these people and I could see they weren't lying to me about the miracles and I could see what they were telling me was in the Bible. However, I was also worried because I had only just met them, who were they? Were they a cult? How come I had never heard about any of this stuff before? So I thought I would ask God.

I left the place late that night to drive home. As I was driving along a main road I was about to ask God, and I thought in my head "OK God..." I was going to say something like "Ok God, if what these guys are telling me is the truth, then..." but all I got to was "Ok God..." and my head suddenly jerked backwards (so that my nose was facing into the air). I still could see the road by looking downwards. Then my head jerked forwards a few seconds later. I didn't exactly know what was going on but I didn't want to crash so I turned off the road into a side street. As I turned into the side street a really good feeling went through my body, which is hard to explain but it felt like it went all the way through my body and out into my hands and feet. I stopped the car. I felt my throat and tongue were very tense, and I was making a sound with my throat as if I was choking. However, I was not short of breath nor was it uncomfortable at all. I wondered if I was now going to do this thing "speaking in tongues" like the guys had told me. So I tried to say something and it sounded garbled so I stopped after a short while. I only later realised I had begun to speak in tongues. Then I flicked my seat back so I was lying back flat. My stomach muscles contracted and I sat bolt upright for a few seconds, then I was dropped back down with a thud. This happened a few times, and other similar kind of spasms continued with my body. Then it ended. The whole thing lasted about two minutes. After it finished I turned on the car and drove home.

That was confirmation for me that what I had heard was true.

That was confirmation for me that what I had heard was true. People have since asked me things like "are you sure they didn't spike your drink with drugs?" or "did you know people can have epileptic fits that have never had them before?" However I saw three very good friends on the way home (about 30 minutes after the incident) and they saw clearly that I was not under the influence of any drugs. Also there is no explanation for the fact that it happened exactly at the moment I asked God if what these guys were telling me is true.

I went and got baptised the next day. Since then I have been 100% serious about God and am changing every day and am living according to the Bible, unlike the half-hearted "Christian" I was before. I believe the reason God powerfully converted me is because I was willing to do His will. So Praise the Lord, now I am saved in Christ.

I have been born again and on the way of salvation since I was 16 years old and God is good all the time and all the time God is good. I have grown stronger in Him because I allowed myself to go through the trials of life and be tried by fire. I hope that everyone will continue to put their whole trust in Him because He is the only one who can see us through every temptation to make a way of escape and every trial that can so easily beset us. We must always remember that "the race is not to the swiftest, nor the battle to the strong, but to those who endure to the end the same shall be saved."

Enjoyed the young man's testimony.
Glory to Yeshua!

Now, I know who my LORD and SAVIOR is. KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS. I need to get baptised. I need to meet real Christians, not half, not religions that do not keep the sabbath (Saturday) which is the day of the LORD. I need to surrender myself 100% to my LORD and Savior even stronger than before. If you are the people that keeps all commandments of God, especially THE SABBATH, PLEASE WRITE ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SO THAT I CAN JOINT MY BOTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST. I WAS LOST, BUT I SAW THE LIGHT, BY READING THE TRUE AND ONLY WORD OF GOD "THE BIBLE". PLEASE HELP ME TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD. THANK YOU ANDRES, MY AREA IS TOONGABBIE, SYDNEY

Hi! I do keep the Biblical Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday night. I also keep kosher food as Peter did, see Acts 10 and read till Acts 11:18 included to understand that God's Salvation and repentance got also granted to pagans so that they may have eternal life. These verses thus do not abolish the dietary laws as some pretend and these verses absolutely do not contradict God's views on food from the Old Testament. And remember Jesus did not came to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it. I also got baptized in the Holy Spirit when I was 15 or 16, then baptized in water at 16. I'd be happy to share my testimony with you and help you get more insight on God's wisdom and love and word though I'm not Him but only His child. I'm also rapture ready because of the confidence He gave me. You can be in contact with me through Skype and emails. I'm from France. God bless you.
