A Blessing In Disguise
Greetings from sunny Australia!
When I was about 4 years old I had the habit of sucking two of my fingers on my right hand. It was so bad that I even had permanent marks on my skin.
At the same time I also enjoyed going horse riding. One day we went on a trail ride with my riding instructor. During the ride I fell off my pony and injured my wrist. I was in quite a bit of pain and in shock, and cried a lot. My mum took me to the doctor to have my arm checked out. The doctor took an x-ray and found that I have a slight fracture in my wrist and I ended-up with a cast for 3 weeks.
After things settled down we noticed that the cast happened to be exactly on my right hand. So I was unable to keep sucking my fingers. I tried to, but it was just not possible.
It was quite difficult in the beginning, but it helped me eventually to stop my habit of sucking my fingers. After the cast was gone I also climbed back on to a horse to overcome any fear. ☺
