Health & Healing

Introduction

We believe that the Lord wants to restore His people to health - not just spiritual health, but physical health as well. EXODUS 15:26 says "… If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee ... for I am the LORD that healeth thee."

As sickness and death came into the world through sin, we believe that Jesus Christ provided the remedy for all these things with His death on the cross. "But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED." (ISAIAH 53:5 - emphasis ours). In conquering death, Jesus Christ bought for us not only eternal life, but victory over sin and sickness as well.

God heals people both supernaturally in answer to prayer, and naturally through obedience to His Commandments. There are many examples in our assembly of people experiencing healing through prayer and faith alone (see Testimonies). There are also examples of healing through following God's commandments regarding food, nutrition and healthy living.

As Christians, we believe our bodies are the temples of God (See 1 CORINTHIANS 3:16-17). As such, we must care for them. One of the most important ways to do this is to ensure that we eat correctly and avoid poisons like alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. In the Old Testament Law, God reveals what is good for food in His creation and what is not. Today, God's Law is confirmed by people such as Phillip Day, who is a researcher from the UK dedicated to exposing the deception and fraud within the health industry. He has written about many topics and his research reveals that many diseases, such as cancer and heart disease, are caused by nutritional deficiencies and an ever-increasing exposure to toxic substances within our food and environment. Further, much of modern medicine is focused on treating the symptoms of diseases, rather than removing the causes through good nutrition and minimizing the exposure to toxic substances.

Recently, one woman in our assembly was miraculously healed of cancer through prayer and putting into practice principles of health and nutrition. Through a recommendation from Phillip Day, she was treated at a clinic in England, which offers holistic treatments using conventional and natural methods.
