Pastor Stephen Banda leads the Apostolic church of Pentecost at MPONELA, Malawi and has been supported by us for over 10 years now. Although we have a close association, there is no direction or influence by our pastors upon the leading of the work in Malawi, but we seek to support Pastor Stephen in his desire to bring lost souls into God’s Kingdom.

The church in Malawi has been growing and at their local church in Mponela, in central Malawi, there are some 165-180 people. The church also has groups in the south of Malawi as well as up north, where Pastor Banda has a vision to plant a city church in Mzuzu in the near future.

Malawi is situated in Southeast AfricaMalawi is situated in Southeast Africa Malawi, often called the "warm heart of Africa", borders Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia in the southern part of Africa. It is a very beautiful country, with lush forests, mountains, and many national parks. The jewel of the nation is sparkling Lake Malawi - which makes up 20% of Malawi's size. The official language spoken in Malawi is English, stemming from the time when it was a British colony called "Nyasaland".

Malawi is still a member of the British Commonwealth. The most common language is Chichewa, which is spoken by most people as the national language, along with English as the other main language. A nation of over 10 million people, Malawi's main industries are tea, tobacco, sugar, and sawmill products.

At this time the local church is very involved in the following ministries: training and teaching disciples; leadership meetings; evangelistic meetings; Sunday school; youth and women’s fellowship at church. They also have a Bible School that is open to all who are hungry to have a deeper relationship with the Lord and have a call to the ministry. They offer certificates to first year students, and a diploma to second year students. There is no age limit at the school and both the educated and those who are interested to study with them, regardless of their education at school, are welcome. (REVELATION 22:17).

Their meetings are lively and all, both young and old, are invited to come and see what God is doing in Malawi. Should you visit, you will hear strong preaching on the grace of the Lord; salvation for sinners; being saved by grace alone and not by works (EPHESIANS 2:8-9); the baptism of the Holy Ghost with signs following (ACTS 1:8; ACTS 2:1-4; JOHN 3:1-3); the second coming of Christ; holiness; miracles; healing and deliverance.

Pastor Banda has asked for our prayers that the Lord opens the doors for their ministry in the north of Malawi where they aim to hold open air evangelistic meetings; youth revival meetings; plant churches; reach out to orphans, the needy, the hurting, as well as training and teaching new disciples. Here is a specific list of points that Pastor Banda asked us to pray for.
